Emily Kazyak is an award-winning sociologist who studies sexuality in American culture and law. 

She has researched topics ranging from gays and lesbians in small towns, representations of romance in Disney movies, the evolution of laws regulating marriage and parenthood, and the family relationships of LGBTQ people. She was recently awarded the Early Career Award from the American Sociological Association Sexualities Section. 

Emily is an Associate Professor of Sociology & Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she teaches courses in LGBTQ studies, family, and law.
