I am a sociologist who studies gender, sexuality, identity, family, and law.
My research illustrates how the cultural and legal contexts within which people live shape their identities and family lives. My scholarship also serves as an exemplar for how to employ an intersectional approach in studies of identity and family.
My work is published in journals including Journal of Marriage and Family,
Gender & Society, Sexuality Research and Social Policy, and Qualitative Sociology.
Currently, I am an Associate Professor of Sociology & Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before coming to UNL, I earned a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies at the University of Michigan.
